Cookie Policy

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website or another service stores in your browser. They can remember a choice, keep you signed in or help a service recognize where a visit came from. This page explains which cookies are involved when you read Predicament Measures.

Cookies this site uses

Predicament Measures does not set analytics cookies at the moment. The site has no user accounts, no paid memberships and no newsletter, so it does not need cookies to sign anyone in or keep a login active. Comments are turned off, and the site does not show display ads.

  • No analytics cookies are set by the site itself.
  • No advertising cookies are set, because the site does not run display ads.
  • Google Search Console, which we use to see how the site appears in Google Search, does not place cookies on your browser.

The web host also keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested. Logs are not cookies, and the Privacy Policy explains how they are used.

Affiliate links and third-party cookies

Some links on this site go to stores such as Amazon. When you click one, the store or its affiliate network may set its own cookie so that a purchase can be credited to Predicament Measures. We don’t control those cookies. They are governed by the policies of the store or network that sets them, so please read those policies if you want details.

You can read more about how we earn money on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

How to block or delete cookies

Every major browser lets you control cookies. The exact steps differ, but you can usually do the following in the browser’s settings or privacy menu:

  • See which cookies are stored and delete some or all of them
  • Block cookies from all sites or only from third parties
  • Clear cookies automatically when you close the browser
  • Use a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when it closes

If you block cookies, the store may not be able to credit a referral, which does not cost you anything. Blocking cookies does not stop you from reading anything on Predicament Measures. The site works the same way with cookies on or off.
