Who writes Predicament Measures

Predicament Measures covers emergency preparedness, backup power and off-grid gear. Everything on the site is published by the Predicament Measures Editorial Team. It is a team effort, and this policy describes how the work is done so readers know what to expect.

How topics and products are chosen

We pick topics that are useful to readers and that people are searching for. For product guides and listings, we also look at whether an item is actually available to buy. A product is not included because a company asked for it or because it pays a higher commission.

  • Reader usefulness: does the topic answer a real question?
  • Search demand: are people looking for this information?
  • Availability: can a reader find and buy the product?

How content is researched

Our research comes from three kinds of sources: manufacturer specifications, public product information and aggregated buyer feedback. We compare those sources and note where they disagree.

We don’t test products ourselves. There is no lab testing and no hands-on testing behind our articles, so our writing describes what published sources say and does not report personal results. We encourage readers to check the manufacturer’s page before buying.

How drafts are written and reviewed

Drafts are written with the help of AI writing tools. That is a normal part of our process. Before anything is published, the Predicament Measures Editorial Team reviews it for accuracy, clarity and fit with the sources described above.

  • A draft is prepared from the research notes.
  • The editorial team checks specifications and claims against the sources.
  • The team edits for plain wording and publishes the page.

Affiliate commissions and independence

Predicament Measures earns affiliate commissions through links to Amazon. Those commissions never decide what we recommend or how a product is described. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains how the links work and what they cost readers, which is nothing extra.

The site does not sell products, has no display ads at the moment and does not accept payment to change a recommendation.

Reviews and updates

Prices, models and availability change, so pages can fall out of date. We review content when we notice a change, when a reader reports a problem and when we revise related articles. We don’t promise a fixed schedule, and the store’s own page is the final source for price and stock.

When a correction is significant, we note it on the page. The Corrections Policy explains how this works.

How to report an error

If something looks wrong, write to editorial@predicamentmeasures.com with the page address and a short description of the problem. We check the report against manufacturer information and fix the page when the report is correct.
